Comedian and feminist Erin Gibson has recently published a collection of essays whose topics range from the patriarchy, to the cosmetics industry, to the tampon tax. If you’re looking for an easy read to open your eyes to things you honestly may have never thought about before, this is a great choice.

The book is entitled, “Feminasty: The Complicated Woman’s Guide to Surviving the Patriarchy Without Drinking Herself to Death.” I think that gives you a pretty good idea of the tone of her essays. Here’s a great excerpt from the article below.

There’s limited men, money, jobs, positions and there’s another woman right next to us who’s vying for the same limited amount,” Gibson said, arguing that men don’t have to contend with the same limitations.

“To me, men compete with the idea that even if they screw everything up, there’s going to be another opportunity for them and women just don’t have that in the back of their minds,” Gibson said. “I call it the hope differential.”
