Thanks to the fantastic limited series Mrs. America (playing now on Hulu) feminism is once again a hot topic.
Fifty years ago (back in the days of Mrs. America) Time Magazine wanted to do a story on The Feminist Utopia. What exactly be considered success if we sorted through the sexism that encompasses our universe.
Gloria Steinem; goddess activist, founder of MS Magazine, and staunch feminist was asked to write it. They just reprinted it.
Gloria as a human is smart, fearless, and thoughtful. She’s dedicated her life to fighting for women’s rights. And she writes a damn good essay.
The Time Magazine, Feminist Utopia by Gloria Steinem piece touches on:
- •women as cheap labor
- •the undeniable connection between warring countries and domestic violence.
- •the eye-opening quote that as women, “We are not more moral than men; we are only uncorrupted by power so far.”
- •Religion, education, books, and chivalry are all explored.
Some things have changed in 50 years. It’s shocking what has not.
This link takes you to her vision. Open it up and give it a read. Share it with friends. There’s lots to chew on.
